Fab Collabs!

If there's something positive that the recession of the recent years has brought to us budget savvy fashionistas,  I must say it has got to be the teaming up of the high-end and low-end.  The yin and the yang of the fashion world.  Never before have we seen high-end, in- your- dreams, beyond expensive -designers come to us commoners' retail stores in such massive throngs  that we don't even know anymore which ones to pick out first.  If recession means enjoying all these elite perks, then sign me up for more! LOL.

JC Penney and Halston collaboration was reported to be the earliest collaboration recorded (1983).  For our most recent history however, we should thank TARGET for pioneering such collaborations for us to enjoy.  One of the first memorable collaborations was with Target and Isaac Mizrahi.  Another collaboration that stood out for me early on was that of Payless and Alice and Olivia and of course, my ultimate fave designer Christian Siriano.  After Target's success, other retailers took notice and they have then collaborated with other famous high end designers themselves.  Kohls teamed up with Vera Wang, Target teamed up again with more designers such as William Rast, Jason Wu, Missoni and other super high end designers in its Christmas 2012 promotion while Sears teamed up with French Connection also in 2012. H and M would not be left behind in the collab department so it teamed up with the highest calibur designers like Marni, Stella McCartney, Lanvin, Jimmy Choo, Givenchy and Versace among others.
Recently, these following collaborations of high end low end are really making me so excited that I can't help but blog about them :)!  So here's my recent top "Fab Collabs" that I will be checking out in stores.

KEDS and KATE SPADE

TARGET and PRABAL GURUNG

KOHLS and DEREK LAM

KOHLS and CATHERINE MALANDRINO (Fall 2013)

JC PENNEY and GEORGINA CHAPMAN OF MARCHESA

So those are my favorite fashion collaborations lately.  I'd be glad to check out yours.

XOXO,

  1. Seriously, I think it is so great that retailers do these collaborations because it just helps the true fashionistas that just don't have the money to buy stuff off the runway, at least at our hands in the real world! Great post! xx Pip
